Let's finish up the Pinchot trail!
The Pinchot Trail is a 23 mile loop-type trail in the Lackawanna State Forest. We'll see meadows, different forest types, swamps and creeks. We'll hike the southern section of this trail - about 13 miles give or take a mile. The trail is easy to moderate with little elevation change however, it is pretty rocky! While I wouldn't go for your first hike ever, most people in relatively good shape with some endurance should be okay! This will be a longer day. Plan on about 6-7 hours.
We'll meet at the parking lot at 8AM, sharp. The parking lot can be seen here: (Parking icon labeled Pinchot SOUTH Tannery Rd Parking): http://maps.google.co...
Please note we are meeting at the Tannery Rd parking lot NOT the Pinchot Trailhead Parking Lot, which is down the road.
Please bring enough food, water, and weather appropriate clothing. While our goal is always to finish before dark I definitely advise people to bring headlamps/flashlights, just in case! You never know!
Some people may want to coordinate some carpooling. A good meeting place is Plymouth Meeting Mall (500 Germantown Pike) - Macys Lower Lot. Based on how long it took us to get there in the past, I suggest meeting at 6:15. I cannot carpool this time but I know that Christine is interested!
We will be asking for a $1 donation (optional) at the beginning of the hike. This money is for Meetup fees. Everyone who wants to go on the hike must be a member of Keystone Hikers.
Hope you can make it!
OK, Bill, let's carpool! I now have room for 2 more people in my car.
I got one of those seats Christine. Can't wait to hike with you guys.
Anyone else want to ride up with Tim, Bill, and I? I have room for one more.
Charles and I will be driving in from Harrisburg. Christine is up for carpooling from Plymouth Meeting Mall at 6:15AM. Post here if you are interested in carpooling from PM Mall.
