Let's visit two of my local parks this Sunday!
Pennypack Park is a cool little park in Northeast Philadelphia. It is part of the Fairmount Park system. There are many miles of trails and many different kinds of trails. We will meet at the Pine Road parking lot to begin our hike. We will start along the footpath on one side of the creek and return on the trail on the other side of the creek. We'll do a 5 mile loop to Krewstown Road and back. When we return to the parking lot, you can go home, or anyone who wants to hike some more can then do a 2-3 mile loop with me over to Lorimer Park, right across the road. Altogether, this should take about 4 hours or so.
It's two hikes in one!!
Last time I was in Lorimer, a goose tried to attack me and I had to scramble up a hill: it was all very exciting!
This is not a tough trail by any means, but we will be moving at a moderate pace. We'll take short breaks for snacks, but it's going to be cold, so we won't stop for a long lunch break. Bring sufficient water and snacks. Waterproof hiking boots are recommended for this trail because it can be quite muddy in one section. Dogs are welcome in Pennypack: I'm not sure about Lorimer.
Unfortunately, dogs are not welcome at Lorimer park.
