Mother's Day Hike at Thunder Swamp Trail & Big Bear Swamp

This location is shown only to members

My mother thinks Mother's Day is a crock, so I'm free to go out and hike! Hope you can come.

So, we're going to try this again. This is the third time we have tried to do this hike. Let's hope Mother Nature doesn't have any more surprises in store for us!

The Thunder Swamp Trail System is located in Delaware State Forest. I've hiked a different section of this trail before and really enjoyed it. The section we will hike this time is about 8 miles long and will take us past Painter Swamp and then on to the Big Bear Swamp in the Stillwater Natural Area. There are a couple of stream crossings, but the only big one has a bridge.

Bring lunch, snacks, sufficient water and wear sturdy hiking boots.

Change in meeting plans, please read! We will be meeting at the Burnt Mills Parking Area. Click the map link below and find the blue icon marked "Burnt Mills Swamp Parking." We will meet there and then cram into a few cars for the short ride to the trailhead. The parking area at Flat Ridge Road is not large enough for all of our cars.
Click HERE: find the blue icon marked Burnt Mills Swamp Parking.

Hope you can make it!!
