Nolde Forest is in Berks County and is 665 acres of beautiful deciduous woodlands and coniferous plantations. This is a state park with an environmental education center located in the main visitor center mansion. Nolde Forest is on PA 625, two miles south of PA 724 or three miles north of PA 568.
I checked with Christine and she doesn't mind me doing a Mother's Day hike at the same time.
This hike is just about 6 1/2 miles long and will take between 3 and 4 hours to complete. We will meet, (Click Here) for the location, at 10:00 a.m. promptly. This park has a network of marked and unmarked trails which are made up of old roads and dirt paths. The way I mapped out this hike will take us on the outside perimeter of the park with the exception of a loop in the center. There is one small rock out-crop and a small stream along the way. There are also a few hills to navigate to get your heart pumping. We will take short breaks when needed and a longer one somewhere along the center loop.
Pets are welcome and there are a few restrooms along the route. This hike will take place rain or shine. I can provide directions for those who might need them. Carpooling is always suggested.
As usual, I will be asking for a $1 donation (optional) at the beginning of the hike. Everyone who wants to go on the hike MUST be a member of Keystone Hikers. NO GUESTS PLEASE.
I hope you can make it, Tim.
The weather is looking cool and windy for this hike.
