AT section - Wind Gap to DE Water Gap, 15 miles

No location was chosen

I'm enjoying section hiking the AT in PA, so I thought I'd post another section.

This section is not difficult terrain-wise or elevation-wise, so let's make it a challenge by moving at a faster than my usual pace and try to finish in 6 hours or so.

We'll meet at the Lake Lenape parking area at the Delaware Water Gap promptly at 9 am. We'll leave a few cars there and shuttle down to Wind Gap to start our hike. See both locations on this map.

Bring sufficient water, lunch, and snacks. We'll take short breaks along the way as needed.

No human guests, but dogs are welcome.

Optional early dinner afterwards in Wind Gap (we have to go back there to pick up our cars!)

Heather, would you like to meet at the Ag building again? Trish, do you want to carpool as well?

Trish, Heather, and Michael....Google says it takes 2 hrs, 12 min from Harrisburg. Wanna meet at Lowes (Union Deposit) at 6:30? Unless you want to fit 4 in my Smart Car, one of you will want to drive. Anybody willing?

Hi all! Just a reminder that we need to set up a car shuttle, so you can't all come in full cars.

I will be driving up on my own, and can shuttle four passengers.

Lowe's at 6:30 sounds good. My car holds 4 comfortably, but could probably fit one more for the shuttle part, unless someone with a bigger car wants to drive.

Of course our Harrisburg carpool only works if a 4th car shows up at the hike that can also hold/squish in 5 people.

Sooooo...when will we know if 4 cars will be a the shuttle? :) Yes, I'd like to meet at Lowe's at 6:30am and I know for certain that Michael is planning on meeting there as well. Guess we'll wait and see if there is going to be a 4th car at the shuttle?

Well, frankly, Daron has been a no-show twice already, so we can't count on him. Lauren lives out your way, so if she is coming, that makes 5 from your area. Either way, I think you need to split up into 2 cars, other wise we will only have 3 cars and won't be able to do the shuttle.

I have a Nissan Frontier Pickup truck and have two seats in the back that fold down. Not to comfy but I'm in for whatever. I'm still meeting you at plymouth meeting at 7:30 am see you then. BTW Any suggestions for lunch?

Wendy - you and I are fine to carpool together. We are just 2 and my car has room for 3 more. I usually bring peanut butter sandwich for my lunch!

now that I made it in, I can carpool from Ply Mtg or along 476, or drive alone to bring an extra vehicle for the shuttle.

Tom, Daron, are you guys definitely coming? It would be nice if we could allow the Harrisburg contingent to come together in one car, but that only works if you guys show up.

FYI, the comment about fitting 5 was for the shuttle, not for the way there....I know we only need to fit 4 on the way there. ;0) Oh and lots and lots of snakes on the AT today...about 7-8 sightings including one rattlesnake that just wanted to be left alone! :)

Great trail, great weather, great friends to share it with. Ground is hard, tho...have the black and blues to prove it.
